Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Mechanical inpatient lifts are provided. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations, operative/invasive procedures, or home settings. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment. The incumbent who provides care in home settings or other off-site locations may be required to drive and/or ride in GSA-vehicles. ["Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) ONLY the Medical Oncology Unit and Inpatient Psychiatry RN positions are eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. The other inpatient units ARE NOT EDRP eligible at this time. To be EDRP eligible for this Medical Oncology position, the RN must have current chemotherapy certification and maintain certification while receiving EDRP benefits. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination Requirement for Title 38 Health Care Personnel The position to which you are applying for employment is considered a Title 38 Health Care Personnel position within the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA). All new VHA Title 38 Health Care Personnel are required to participate in the Agency's COVID-19 vaccination program. The major requirement of this program consists of employees receiving either a complete COVID-19 vaccine series or receiving a medical or religious vaccination exemption. All RNs: Per local policy, the RN is responsible for maintaining Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Telemetry Stepdown Unit RNs: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required after completion of orientation for nurses assigned to the Telemetry Stepdown Unit. If not ACLS certified within orientation period, the nurse may be reassigned to another unit. Position duties include but are not limited to:\nMedical-Surgical Unit: caring for patients with multiple complex surgical and medical conditions, such as orthopedic surgeries, vascular diseases, renal disease, COPD, seizure disorder, and remote telemetry. Medical-Oncology Unit: caring for patients with various medical problems including patients requiring chemotherapy and remote telemetry. The Community Living Center and Rehabilitation Unit: caring for those veterans who do not need hospitalization in the acute care setting but require medical, nursing, rehabilitative, psychosocial, and/or supportive services in a skilled nursing care unit. Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit: identifying and caring for patients with various psychiatric disorders, including PTSD, depression, chemical dependence, and at times medical conditions such as seizure disorder, hypotension or hypertension. Telemetry-Stepdown Unit: Is an acute care unit that requires more intense nursing care beyond what can be provided on a medical-surgical floor. Responsibilities include but are not limited to caring for patients with various cardiac and/or medical-surgical problems.
