The incumbent is assigned to provide meaningful recreation and leisure activities and to assist Recreation Therapists in providing treatment programs to meet Veterans needs throughout the Dublin VAMC. Position will comply with Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and Long-Term Care Institute Standards (LTCI). Work Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday, may vary based on programming needs and will include some holidays throughout the year. Position Description/PD#: Recreation Therapy Assistant/PD003878 Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Duties may include, but are not limited to: Carries out a full range of Therapeutic Recreation programs and interventions inclusive of recreation treatment modalities and general recreation (diversional) activities, as defined and assessed or assigned by the Recreation Therapist and/or Supervisory Recreation Therapy Program Manager. Conducts on-station and off-station general (diversional) activity programs for various types of disabilities which include psychiatric diagnoses, dementia, neuro-muscular disorders, orthopedic conditions, AIDS, amputation, paralysis, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, respiratory disorders, chronic cardiovascular diseases, and clients with multiple diagnoses. Collaborates with the Recreation Therapy Supervisor and Recreation Therapists, in providing recreational activities for our residents/clients and managing recreation facilities, supplies, and equipment. Maintains accurate workload records and submits timely data through entries in appropriate computer databases. Evaluates the affects of treatment, ability, progress, are desired goals are being met form observations and knowledge of treatment plan. Develops specific activities and routines to maintain or improve client's general state of physical and/or mental health based on the therapeutic recreation assessment completed by the Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CRTS).
